Moraine Park Technical College
The Accounting Associate of Applied Science degree at Moraine Park which is available on campus or online gives students an in-depth look at all facets of the accounting world. Students learn about teamwork, communication skills and various accounting software programs. Students gain hands-on experience using computers to process financial data for reporting, planning, controlling and decision-making purposes. Graduates of the program are informed about ethical standards for accountants and the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Students learn basic principles such as financial, cost, payroll, taxes, auditing and technology from expert instructors. Graduates of the program can process financial transactions, analyze financial and business information, and perform payroll preparation. They are also skilled in carrying out tax accounting preparation for businesses and individuals and identifying internal controls to reduce risk. Show More

Program applications are accepted until a week prior to the start of each semester. There are some exceptions for programs or certificates that begin mid-semester. Some high-demand/limited-enrollment programs reach capacity based on the number of students who complete admission. Applicants are accepted into limited-enrollment programs on a first-come, first-served basis and are admitted from program waitlists as space becomes available.
The Accounting Associate of Applied Science Degree is the parent program to the Accounting Assistant Technical Diploma, Bookkeeper Technical Diploma, Payroll Assistant Certificate and Tax Preparer Assistant Certificate. By completing the Accounting program a student will also earn these career pathways.
Advisory board committee members from area businesses provide guidance and direction on curriculum and program outcomes.
Moraine Park offers Employment Services and Career Services to students.
Moraine Park offers online and face to face tutoring for our students.

MAKING SENSE OF THE EMPLOYMENT OUTCOMES:

"Average quarterly wages" means the total wages earned in a three-month period by all students who completed the program ("completers"), divided by the total number of completers.

"Median quarterly wages" means all the completers' quarterly wages are placed in order from lowest to highest and then we identify the student's wages in the middle. This information is provided because averages can be greatly influenced by really high and low wage earners.

To estimate monthly wages, divide the quarterly wages by three.
